Samburu, Kenya: Â Samburu
County Women Representative-elect Maison
Leshomo on Monday revealed that her life was threatened and urged the
Government to provide her with security.
Ms Leshomo said some people have been trailing her with the intention of
eliminating her.
Addressing a news conference at her Maralal home, Leshomo who was elected on a TNA ticket said due to the threat she has been living in fear both in Nairobi and her rural home in Samburu.
I need to be provided with security as I believe my life is under threat and the Government should conduct investigation, she said.
She linked the threats to the killing of 42 police officers in Baragoi last year. Leshomo, who served as a nominated MP in the last Parliament, said she was made a scapegoat following the massacre despite being in the forefront in uniting warring communities in the area.
She said she was not to blame for the constant migration of the Turkana community within and outside of the area as a result of the security operation as that was a Government decision.
Leshomo said she was a peace loving person and will represent the interests of all communities.
