Somalia: Fierce Confrontations and Explosions Rock Marka Town in Overnight Attacks




Marka — News from Marka town the headquarter town of the lower Shabelle region of Somalia confirm that armed men believed to be Alshabab fighters launched propelled grenade attacks on an AMISOM and government military bases located at the outskirts of the town.
Eyewitness confirmed to Shabelle radio that heavy artillery was used against each other after the allied forces retaliated back.
In another incident inside Marka town, a heavy explosion occurred at a government military base located at the heart of the town.
Government officials based in Marka town have not yet commented on last night attacks as for now.
